This article is long overdue as I had asked Jessica for an interview nearly a year ago. I was dealing with a multitude of personal issues. These included upcoming cancer testing and its treatment. Somewhere along the line I had neglected to see her responses to my questionnaire and had never written about her. After profusely apologizing,

I asked Jessica if I could write her story now.

Jessica Michelle Wilson

She agreed and although it’s a bit late, it’s time to…

Meet: Jessica Michelle Wilson

Youth

Where are you from and what was your childhood like?

I’m from Dallas, Texas and I had a wonderful childhood. I grew up with my parents, as well as my twin brother and older brother. My parents always worked really hard to make sure that we had everything we needed. They also provided the things we desired as well.

I did well in school. I graduated within the top 10% of my class in high school and college.

Awards

I won various of awards from being on the honor role, dean’s list, best dancer. I won best dressed in my senior class in high school, and most friendly. I also won a pageant being named Miss Pink Ice.

I always loved to dance and started dancing when I was seven years old. As I grew, I did ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, African dance, and praise dance. I also did some cheerleading as well.

College

Did you attend college and where? Any extracurricular activities?

I was in the residence association with the dorms. Also, I was president of the gospel choir as well as a part of a dance team. I graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising from the University of North Texas.

Mommin’ and Influence’n

One thing that interested me is that I see you’re a mom too. Can you talk for a paragraph or two about the challenges of being a working mom? The difficulties and prides and joys of it? And what advice would you give to working moms?

I am blessed to be a stay-at-home mom with my little ones. I homeschool them while I do style work on the side.

Being a mom is truly a huge blessing! Children are so full of love and joy. It’s truly a privilege to guide them on their journey. With that, I have taken on this new venture of being an influencer, so it definitely has its challenges.

When you’re at home, you don’t really have the separation that you have when you go to work. I feel like I’m constantly trying to find pockets of time to do what I need to do online. I don’t want my children constantly seeing me on a screen.

I recently heard some excellent advice. Someone suggested having screen times for certain blocks during the day. This way, you can give your kids your attention. For example, you can have no screen time for yourself when kids are done with school until time for bed. Or if you’re at home with the kids, you can choose a couple of hour blocks through the day. You can use your screen during those times.

I’m still working on but it all at all. I am extremely grateful to have the extended time that I have with my precious little ones!

Target, Amazon and Old Navy

Were you ever a professional model? How did you get into working Target, Old Navy and Amazon online? How does being an influencer work?

No, I was never a professional model. I have always had a passion for fashion. I thought it would be awesome to share styling tips with others.

The more you grow, companies reach out to you and gift you items to share. Then you also get paid opportunities as well. Of course, you can share the clothes that you buy or already own.

Spouse

What does your husband think about you modeling online? Is he supportive? And what does he think of your ever-growing wardrobe?

He’s very supportive and proud. I’m a bit of an introvert. He is very proud of me putting myself out there and sharing my style and voice with others. He even made more room for me in the closet!!

Fun and Enjoyment

What do you do outside of modeling for fun?

Outside of my love for fashion I have a great passion for dance! I love all type of dance, and I really enjoy incorporating that working out.

I enjoy doing Pilates, high fitness, and Zumba most.

I love going to Church to praise the Lord. HE has been so good to me.

Also, I enjoy reading a good book or binging a show.

It doesn’t have to be anything grand. Just going to a park or relaxing with the family is such a great joy! Outside of that I just enjoy spending time with my family.

About Me

Now for the finale…What is it about my account that drew your attention? What keeps you following me? What is it that you like most about how I come across on social media?

I think it’s so awesome how supportive you are of others in the midst of your own journey!!

Showcasing ordinary people like Jessica, that put social media to good use, are what it’s meant for. I believe. People who normally don’t get the notoriety for what they do. Like this devoted mother, loving wife, teacher, and friend. Who not only brings smiles to others but, also, a sense of fashion too. Are exactly why I continue doing what I do.

Again, thank you, Jessica for allowing me to make a wrong a right. I’m proud to call you friend and keep up the great work.
