RTT NLP Hypno Therapist

February 12, 2024

Agnieszka, or Agnes as she prefers, and I have been following one another for six or seven months and I was unaware of who she really is. Instagram is a cool place for photo messages, and I’ve learned to use it, and abuse it at times, in a means of getting a story out to the masses or an individual. But with Agnes it’s different. You need to read, sometimes lengthy posts, feel her words resonate inside you and think them through and that’s probably the reason she slipped by me early on.

However, with the onset of Instagrams sister site, Threads, her posts come out loud and clear. They’re legible. Precise. And most importantly, thought provoking. It’s there where we actually met. And I am impressed, so much so, I asked her for a ‘Meet Me.’

With that said, lets ‘Meet: Agnieszka  Rdesinska aka Agnes.’

Early Years

Originally born and raised in Poland, in a small town where everyone knew each other, Agnes tells me her childhood was marked by health challenges. She was her parents only child and says, “During my formative years, I wasn’t heavily involved in after-school activities. I focused on studying and learning everything there is to know about the natural world, Discovery Channel all the way, and I used to play video games in my free time.” By the time she was ten, her parents would divorce, and her father would eventually have two sons. They are her only siblings.

“I pursued my education at a medical university in Lodz, where I studied laboratory medicine,” Agnes begins in earnest, “In 2018, I graduated with a master’s degree in medical sciences. Following my education, I moved to the Netherlands and secured a position as a medical analyst in a histological laboratory. In this role, I work with tissue samples and biopsies obtained from patients, investigating for any pathological changes such as cancer or autoimmune diseases.”

Netherlands

I must admit, I was intrigued after reading her bio, especially after living through 2023 which by even the farthest stretch of the imagination can only be describes as excruciating. Thus, I started probing and asked, I see on your IG profile you have posted Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) coaching respectively. What are your credentials and where did you receive them?

“The challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic prompted significant changes in many lives, including mine,” began Agnes. “During a particularly challenging period, I experienced a severe mental breakdown, leading me to seek therapy for the first time. I went through a series of therapists, each unable to provide the help I needed. Faced with a year-long waitlist for a specialized clinic, I took matters into my own hands. Discovering RTT proved to be a transformative experience, to the extent that when they finally called me for an intake, I no longer needed their services.”

“I enrolled in the RTT school, embarking on a transformative journey. RTT granted me certification as a hypnotherapist. Furthering my education in the Netherlands, I earned a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) certification. Since 2021, I have been conducting sessions, initially with fellow students, then expanding to friends, family, and eventually paying clients. This journey has allowed me to merge my personal experience with mental health challenges and my passion for helping others into a fulfilling career as a therapist,” Agnes replied.

Differences and Goals

I know both types of therapy are far more complicated than what I’m about to ask, I began, so please take your time trying to answer this question. In three or four sentences for each, can you describe them, was my follow up, coupled with, then in another 2 or 3 sentences describe your intended objectives or goals?

“RTT combines hypnotherapy, NLP, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychotherapy. In a session, I guide clients into hypnosis, allowing them to revisit memories that underlie their issues,” says the therapist. “By extracting harmful beliefs formed through negative experiences or trauma, we can replace them, leveraging the heightened flexibility of the mind during hypnosis for lasting change.”

“On the other hand,” she continues, “NLP serves as a coaching approach for those who prefer not to delve deep into past traumas or resist the idea of hypnosis. It focuses on changing the mindset by eliminating hindering beliefs to achieve personal growth.”

“Regarding objectives, both RTT and NLP aim for similar goals—bringing about positive change. RTT excels in speed thanks to hypnosis, while NLP offers an accessible alternative for those who’d rather take things slow,” concluded Agnieszka.

Most Common Issues

What are the most common issues you address with a client or patient; I had asked next, in which she responded, “The most common issue I address is low self-esteem, which can manifest in various ways such as addictions, depression, and social anxiety.”

Agnes then tells me that a session begins with an intake where she gathers information, that includes “my client’s symptoms, triggers, habits, and childhood”   which leads her to which direction of treatment will be needed.

“Subsequently, I guide my client into hypnosis to explore the root cause together. Generally, resolving an issue with RTT takes one to three sessions, depending on its complexity. If an issue cannot be fully resolved, we focus on creating healthy coping strategies. Acceptance is one of them,” she adds on the treatments intended outcome.

Social Media and Covid

Let’s talk about the advent of social media and covid as a root problem of a whole lot of issues, I suggested next. (And if you think I’m heading where I am with this, you are entirely correct.)  I continued, I attribute a huge portion of this to my shattered relationship with someone I had gotten really close to and believed was more than it was. What is your take, have you seen a raise in problems that you’d attribute to it?

“I am convinced that we’ll see the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic for years to come,” she began, and offered these negative effects she’s noticed already.

-The sense of stability and safety has been disturbed – people are aware of how fragile the systems we’ve built our society on can be.

-Distrust in science and the government – many now question the validity of authorities, especially due to the discourse around the vaccine and protective measures taken during the pandemic. People believe they’ve been misled, finding themselves lost in a world where they don’t know what’s true anymore.

-Years of isolation have had a profound impact on our mental health. As social creatures in need of touch and connection, we’ve found ourselves more isolated than ever. Many are still reluctant to go back to the way things were before the pandemic.

-The polarization around vaccination status has left a bitter taste for many people. Even now, you can see people on dating apps claiming that they don’t want to connect with anyone who has made a different choice than them. It’s sad that people who meant well have been pitted against one another. Everyone has done what they believed was right, but in a time of such tremendous stress, it was difficult to understand where the other side was coming from.

-COVID has made us feel incredibly lonely, and time feels like it’s become still. Many have found themselves desperate for change, any change – and that has impacted relationships. Almost everyone I knew who was in a long-lasting relationship had gone through a breakup, me included. I ended a dysfunctional relationship of 10 years with a man I had known ever since I was 16. It had a huge impact on my mental health, as it turned out that losing myself in him kept me from experiencing the blunt force of my childhood trauma.

What would be your advice to those that have suffered or will suffer because of it, was my next inquiry.

“It’s hard to give advice to everyone suffering from the aftermath of the pandemic,” she summed up, “as my choice of words would depend on the nature of their pain. I chose the path of forgiveness and understanding, acknowledging that people didn’t know any better and meant well in that stressful time. However, I haven’t suffered any personal loss or disability at the hand of someone else’s ignorance, so I don’t want to preach or invalidate anyone else’s pain.”

Analyzing Me

Like I mentioned above, I went here. Yes, I am asking a professional about myself. A professional who has admitted reading ‘a lot’ of my writings and said this when asked how many, “I’ve read at least 30 of your blogs and kept up with your Instagram posts.” Honestly, I hadn’t known I had written that many and when I saw her response to that question, I knew I’d ask. I knew, whatever her answer was, I was going to print it. Good, bad or indifferent. I won’t hide behind any vail or character fault.

Use me and what you’ve learned about me through my blogs and posts, I shot her way, as an example. What do you think I’ve done well during my healing process and what do you believe I still need work on? And how does being an overthinker help or hinder that process?

“I’ve closely followed your healing journey, and your approach has been truly commendable,” she vocalized. “Your decision not to succumb to despair and your focus on the positive aspects of life, despite the looming challenge of illness, have left a lasting impression. Surrounding yourself with a supportive network of people and narrating your experiences with strength and positivity exemplify resilience and grace in the face of adversity.”

“The term “overthinking” carries a negative undertone,” Agnieszka adds, “suggesting a tendency to spiral into pessimistic thoughts. Overthinking all the negative aspects of life can lead to chronic stress, and we know now that too much exposure to cortisol and other stress hormones can disrupt almost all the body’s processes. Maybe that was something you used to do in the past, however as I delved into your blogs, it became evident that your thought process now aligns more with what I would describe as reflective thinking. Rather than dwelling on the negative, you exhibit a remarkable ability to deeply contemplate various situations, extracting valuable insights. In your case, this reflective thinking has not hindered but rather contributed to the development of a great mindset, positively influencing your healing journey.”

As I type this portion of our interview, all I can think or even feel is flattered. Maybe I should be prouder of how I’ve handled my journey, yet her statement about me and the fact she’s read so many of my blogs seems to have helped make my mission here more gratifying. Perhaps, it’ll be easier on me to just accept that fact that I’m doing it right. That’ll work.

Humbleness

Let’s end with some fun, I said as we were nearing the end of our interview, no shop talk. What do you do for fun outside of your profession and what are you most proud of having accomplished at this stage of your life?

“As compensation for all the years I’ve spent isolating myself and never going out, I’m now surrounding myself with people in my free time,” stated the master’s degree in medical analytics. “It doesn’t matter what we do, whether it’s going to the gym with friends, getting lost at a festival, or discovering a new café in the neighborhood.”

“I just want to make up for the lost connections in the past. That’s also what I’m most proud of – creating deep connections with wonderful people and knowing that we can always have each other’s backs,” she added.

Favorite Vacation Spot and Bucket List

“I enjoy vacationing in warm and sunny lands, so I can swim in the sea or in the ocean. As for my bucket list,” she continues, “there are many things I would like to experience during my lifetime, but the list is ever-changing. I would like to go to Japan someday, and I’d definitely want to parachute jump out of an airplane, but I’ll still be happy and satisfied with my life if I never get the chance to do it. My biggest dreams are related to helping people, which I’m happy to say is a part of my career!”

Celebrity Crush

“Who’s my celebrity crush?!” Agnes must have been stunned I had asked this, but as an avid read of my writings, I decided to add the occasional changeup to my repertoire, “Currently, I don’t have any, she replied. “But when Henry Cavill played the Witcher in the Netflix adaptation, I was one of the girls completely smitten with him. Very unoriginal, I know!”

About Me

Generally, used as my ego boost and insight to what to expand or correct on, I asked that vintage final question. Why follow me and what is it in my content that interests you most?

“I started following you on Instagram in September 2023,” Agnes summated, “right after your return from August travels and as you began preparing for your radiation therapy. I’ve been reading your cancer chronicles ever since, and there are several reasons why. Firstly, I deeply respect the way you handle the suffering you’ve been through. Your openness not only helps people understand your journey but also inspires others to confront their pain with the same strength and acceptance you’ve demonstrated.”

“Having lost a few beloved family members to cancer,” my new friend shared, “I can only wish they had chosen the same approach you did. While some may isolate and give in to despair, your example shows that there’s a better way toward healing. You serve as an inspiration, and I hope you recognize the positive impact you make by sharing your pain.”

“I appreciate that you haven’t lost your sense of humor and that you decided to connect with people as part of your healing process. It brings to mind a quote I once read:

“What happens when people open their hearts?”

“They get better.”

-Haruki Murakami”

“You’ve opened your heart, and healing has followed,” Agnes finalizes. “You have wonderful people in your life who love and support you. Your journey demonstrates that while no one can fight our battles for us, having someone stand by our side and encourage us is more than enough. I wish you all the best, Rick!”

Writers Note:

I really hadn’t known or even imagined where this blog would head when it began. But in the end, I found more than a friend. I found a confident, someone I can not only trust but someone who cares about people. That, in this day and age alone, is precious. Agnieszka, you are a marvel. Your passion and unspoken empathy are what this world needs more of. And although I’d never jump out of a plane, I’m dreaming of writing the blog when you do so over Japan. Now that would be a double bucket list item worth fulfilling! Thank you so much for your candor and time. It has truly been an honor and I wish you well in all your endeavors.
