Let the Goosebumps Begin
July 25, 2023

If you’ve been following along, you know this year has been a rough one for me medically and emotionally. From ongoing health issues to personal battles, the year’s been a real struggle. That’s about to change with a return trip to Boston to see my hometown Detroit Tigers take on the Red Sox.

With things being the way they are, I wasn’t sure this would become a reality. But after some schedule juggling and approval from both urologist and oncologist, along with a little ‘persuasion’ on my part, the trip is officially a go.
I had just messaged friend Kristyn Burtt, a real life ‘Barbie Doll’ (I’ll blog about her connection with the doll in a future post), if she knew, off hand, of any other events happening in/around Beantown during my stay. As she’s a native Massachusettsan. Before she could even respond, I found something very exciting that was happening there not long after my arrival.

I originally had a ticket for Friday’s opener against the Sox, but later put it up for sale on StubHub (same site I purchased it from) when I discovered what was going down at TD Garden that very same night. Definitely a ‘must see,’ I thought!
As quickly as I found the event, I messaged Kristyn once more “Ahh same night as baseball game. Ok KB, do i resell game ticket and go to Saturday game instead to watch Lionel?” Her reply was as equally quick, “Ohhhh. Lionel & EWF. you have to!!”

Yes, Lionel Richie and Earth Wind and Fire are playing the same night of the Tigers game and at the same arena I had seen our Detroit Red Wings faceoff against the hometown Bruins last October, during a subsequent trip to my ‘Birthday Month’ jaunt in June.

I’ve been a big fan of Lionel’s throughout the years and can’t wait to do a little ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ at the Garden.
And ‘After the Love Has Gone’ I may be in a moody blues kind of state but will have the following day to enjoy some baseball.
Immediately, things were put into motion.

I listed my Friday night ticket back on the site and found an even better seat at Fenway Park to watch game two, the following afternoon. And then purchased a ticket to see Lionel and EWF!

Other sights I plan to attend are The Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum. Somewhere, fitting in as well, will be a journey across town to the Atlantic to view the sights of the ocean my grandparents had seen over a century ago, along with a stop at Boston Common for a cold drink and a sandwich with dinner at Cheers.

Hoping you continue to stop in often during my journey back east, as it’s looking to become an exciting adventure once more, with plenty of blogs coming. I’m sure things are apt to change, they always do. Different sights and stops along the way are enviable. Plus, don’t forget my announcement in the early morning hours of April 10. This part of the story, I’m really excited to see how it plays out. It will be a ‘berth’ of its own!
forever friends
i am me
why not smile
