The Question That Made Me Pause

Today’s Daily Prompt question probably sounds easy until you actually unravel it: What is the meaning of life?

Years ago, I probably would’ve searched for some deep or complicated answer. These days, I don’t think it works like that. Life has changed my perspective after hard seasons, and moments that forced me to slow down and pay attention.

For me, the meaning now is tied to late-night conversations that last for hours. It’s hearing a song that takes me back to a specific memory or person. It’s laughing harder than I expected to after a stressful week. It’s waking up to a quiet morning where everything feels calm for a change. While other times it’s simply having something to look forward to again.

The Moments That Matter Most

Over time, I’ve realized life isn’t really about having all the answers. Most of the meaningful parts happen in ordinary moments while I’m busy thinking of bigger things that seem to matter more.

Some chapters of life arrive quietly and still change everything.

Lately, Maya has become part of that realization for me. Because in some dramatic movie kind of way she walked into my life and quickly changed me. Proof happiness can return just as quietly and with a future worth being excited about as one vision quickly had left you.

A Song That Fits the Feeling

While writing this, my thoughts turned to Never Been to Me by Charlene. I’ve used this song before during heavier chapters of my life, but this time it feels different.

Instead of hearing sadness in it, I hear perspective.

Charlene: I’ve Never Been to Me

She sings about searching for meaning in all kinds of places. Only to realize the things that matter most are the simplest one’s like connections, love and peace.

Maybe that’s why it hits differently now as I feel as I’m finally coming to me and what makes me happy.

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to feel meaningful. Sometimes it’s enough just to find yourself in a better chapter than the one you thought would define you forever.

What I Think the Meaning of Life Really Is

So, if I had to answer the question now, I’d probably keep it simple.

I think the meaning of life is finding people and moments that make being here feel worth it. And honestly, that describes life better than most big philosophical answers I could ever give.
