What does freedom mean to youDaily Prompt’s QOTD

Hell of a ‘Question of the Day‘ to ask a writer, don’t you think? Actually, it gives me an opportunity to ramble on about much of nothing but yet everything. Mt favorite type of writing and that to me is ‘What freedom Means to Me.’

Rick Ollie

I can’t imagine a country where our own POTUS says he’s not sure if he has to abide by the constitution. Sheer madness. It’s there for everyone not just the average person. Let that sink in to all that voted for him. And thank you to decades long media friend and NBC‘s ‘Meet the Press‘ host Kristin Welker, for asking him the question and the constitution for allowing me to write it.

Sean Diddy Combs’ trial for sex trafficking is coming to a head with jury selection this week. Part of the very constitution POTUS is violating even after the 9-0 SCOTUS ruling ordered him to return a man from El Salvador that was illegally deported for violating his ‘Due Process‘. I’m worried about the Combs trial, because I know too many folks in the LA area that could’ve fallen victim to his bullshit. But remember he’s innocent until proven guilty. The very substance of ‘due process.’

Writing lets me add this out of the blue as well. To my long-lost friend that was a victim of Jeffrey Epstein and gave up everyone close to her for a new start. Know you’re still thought of fondly and loved. I’ll always be here for you but fully understand your decision. Be blessed my friend.

Sam Smith: Writing’s on the Wall

Another friend and I had the most heartfelt conversation this weekend. It brought a smile to my face that’s still here this morning. We were discussing people and changes, mainly me, when she said, “Whenever I think of my adventure on threads and feel like I didn’t really get everything out of it that I could have, I think of the friendship I got with you. It was all worth it.” We wouldn’t have met if I hadn’t been hurt so badly to return to writing. That freedom afforded me one of the greatest friendships ever.

Then there was the subtle reminder that read like this. “I think that the pain (of losing her) has pushed you to do great things and meet many wonderful new people.” It’s author shining light on how far I’ve come over the past couple years of pain and grief while writing about others and my own losses, personal battles and shortcomings. Yes, writing did that too.

Writing helps you too. Imagine not being able to tell someone in words, “I don’t think (you’re) too nice I think you’re the right amount of nice,” to your best-friend after you’ve asked if you’re too nice to people.

Other writings that have crossed my path have included things like, “Happy Thankful Thursday, Rick! I’m grateful for your friendship. Have a great day.” Followed up by someone else saying, “Every time I remember you, I smile,” and “Thanks, Rick! That’s so kind of you. I appreciate you and I think you rock!

The freedom of writing can bring smiles, sadness, love and heartbreak. It can tell a story from start to finish and offer news and hope. It can heal, as in my case. It can deliver and cost us friendships too. It can cut like a knife or soothe a child to sleep. There is no other freedom, in my opinion, that can do as much.

Now my ‘Writing’s on the Wall‘ where it belongs for all to read and I leave you with one last message from a reader “You’re such an inspiration and the most bravest and beautiful soul! Thank you for sharing your experience and journey!

Have a wonderful week my friends and thanks for stopping by once again.

Freedom of speech and the ability to express how one feels is something that I won’t take for granted. Thanks Rick, for the reminder on freedom and sharing what it means to you!
