Casey’s Call

I had been friends with someone online for a couple years and was in the hospital for a colectomy. I knew no one was planning to visit and probably not call either, so I was resigned to my cell phone for entertainment for what would turn out to a five-day hospital stay.

After being moved to a room from recovery, I ran a video of myself being ok to social media and someone had gotten my room’s direct phone number from it.

The day after surgery my room phone had rang, and I answered it. It was actress, mom, influencer and friend Casey Dacanay. She had called to wish me well.

That one phone call meant the world to me. And still does. Showing someone they care is the most precious gift ever.

This was a few years ago and although we’ve parted ways, it’s still one of the best gifts I’ve ever received.
