It Means A Lot Of…

Small Victories

As American’s we’ve grown accustomed to freedoms such as the press, the ability to speak our minds openly in public and transparent elections. And that’s all fine. Yet, by generalizing ‘Freedom’ as something huge, we don’t recognize the little freedoms that we enjoy most.

Freedom

For hidden in them is the ability to travel to a donut shop in the morning for some treats. And better yet, it’s the ability of a friend’s small daughter to fundraise for her school by selling me, and others, a BOGO card to that very shop so I can give the second dozen to someone that can’t afford them.

It’s the ability to take a picture of a book and its contents inside a store without purchasing it.

Freedom brings ‘Sandy’ to another store for children to ride for only a penny.

But most importantly, freedom brings friends like Carolina Suarez to our country from a corruption filled Venezuela, while affording her the opportunities to teach our youth the game of tennis.

This is what ‘Freedom’ means to me and assuredly it did not come from one large victory, it truly was a bunch of ‘Small Victories!’
