National Look-Alike Day Reflection

Today’s daily prompt asks the question: How do you use social media?

On the surface, it’s easy to say it’s for sharing moments, photos, or quick thoughts. But for me, it’s always been something deeper and more intentional.

Today also happens to be National Look-Alike Day, and I decided to have a little fun with it.

But that post wasn’t really about resemblance.

A moment of reflection on identity, authenticity, and what social media should really represent

More Than a Reflection

Social media has a way of pulling people toward comparison.
Who you look like. What you have and how your life appears from the outside.

A doppelgänger might spark attention or start a conversation, but it doesn’t define who you are. It never has.

What defines you is quieter than that.

It’s in how you treat people.
How you carry yourself when no one’s watching.
How you move through life, relationships, and challenges.

That’s the part of me I try to share.

Michael Hackson: The Way You Make Me Feel

Why I Actually Post

I don’t use social media to become someone else.

I use it to document pieces of my life—moments, thoughts, reflections—especially the ones that might connect with someone else going through their own journey.

If something I write or share makes someone pause, think, or feel understood then I’ve done my job.

That’s the goal. Not perfection. Not imitation. Just realness.

Inspired, Not Imitated

With the Michael movie releasing in theaters this Friday, it’s a reminder that even the most iconic figures were more than their image.

They were human. Complex. Layered. And that’s something worth remembering. Especially in a space where it’s easy to get caught up in appearances.

So yes, I might resemble a legend all dressed up but I’m not here to be one.

I’m here to be myself.

What You See vs. Who I Am

Social media will always show you a version of someone.

But the real story is always deeper than the image.

So, when I post, I try to make sure there’s something behind it. Something honest, something grounded, something real.

Because at the end of the day, who you are inside will always matter more than who you look like on the outside.

What’s Next

I’ll be attending an early screening of Michael this week, and I’ll be sharing my thoughts in an upcoming blog post about a real legend.

And just to be clear…I can’t sing and I can’t dance.

But I can show up as myself and that’s enough.
