Everyone could do much better listening to one another-Snow White

This past Thursday I had the opportunity to attend an early showing of Snow White a day before its official opening on Friday. I viewed it on the new Screen X at my local MJR Théâtre. Truly a wrap-around adventure.

The Walt Disney Pictures production stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

As the story goes, Snow White’s parents were King and Queen and at an early age her mother passed. Enter Gadot, better known as the Evil Queen, who weds Snow White’s father.

Her father leaves with his troops and is never heard from again. Which leaves the Evil Queen in charge of the Kingdom. Snow White is turned into a servant and years later crosses paths with Jonathon, played by Andrew Burnap. The peasant boy, we find out later is, the leader of the resistance, and is in the castle stealing food.

To not giveaway any more than needed, I’ll just say, the storyline follows the flow of what we’d expect of the famed Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Love ensues between Snow White and Jonathon, with the help of The Seven Dwarfs whose animation, I believe, is great. I’m sure there will be some fallout by others for Disney’s depiction of the dwarfs. But remember, it is a fairy tale, and as a defender of all, I found no harm in their characterization for the film.

The singing is absolutely brilliant. The song selections even more so! Even Gadot’s tune, All Is Fair, is remarkable.

Another favorite song of mine from the movie is sung by both Zegler and Burnap, Princess Problems. I literally giggled throughout its scene thinking of someone else but not losing focus on the film.

It was a sheer joy remembering good prevails over evil in the end.

Snow White is a definite must see for everyone of any age. It brings hope, shows that love still exists, while giving up on someone is a nonstarter.

I’ll close with a line from Snow White herself, “everyone could do much better listening to one another.” Indeed, Snow White, yes, we could.
