Positron Emission Tomography or PET scan
October 2, 2023

Test:
Nearly four months after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, I hoped to have had the last of the pre-treatment tests involved, as today I went in for yet another scan. This time it was a Positron Emission Tomography or PET scan. In layman’s terms another fancy imagining scan. Much like the MRI and CT scan just lay on your back and let the thing do its job of taking photographs of your inside.
But before that happened, I waited approximately an hour or some to let the dose of radioactive dye flow through my system, after being injected, as it has tracers the scan detects.
Godzilla vs Kong

While the dye was flowing through me, I thought of the 2021 movie, ‘Godzilla vs Kong.’ Believe what you want, Godzilla beat that giant monkey in my book. Much the same way Tommy Hearns beat Ray Leonard in their second fight. That was no draw, and neither was Godzilla’s! Both clear cut winners. Besides how you going to beat a dinosaur all radioactive’d up? Just can’t happen.

Test Continued:
You know me and my overthinking mind, I did my research on the PET Scan. But I did wait until yesterday, as I had just found out about its insurance approval late last week,
Although it’s from the UK, video below, the procedure is pretty much the same. Except my arms were lying on my side, no sugar levels were drawn from my blood, and I went in the waiting room and watched TV for the hour or so.
The actual machine and room I were in is below. The scan took maybe 40 minutes, and I was walking out the door.

Halloween:
With yesterday’s changing of the month, ‘spooky season,’ has officially kicked in and I couldn’t pass by the seasonal artifacts in the hospital’s gift shop. I had to take a look. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays alongside Christmas.

Not overly, or even remotely, scary but it does bring a sense of the holiday to those that enter. Feel free to write me using the contact spot in my website. Would love to hear and possibly blog you on your favorite Halloween adventure or scariest haunted house visit.

I thought these two ‘Bones’ pieces were pretty cool and I guess inn today’s soaring market prices, seventeen dollars each wouldn’t have been a bad price. But I’ve been collecting my ‘Christmas Tree’ ornaments since before the start of 2023. Just don’t have room for more ‘stuff.’ Be sure to stay abreast to my blogs as this year’s tree is assured to be a ‘knockout.’
Results:
My test results, most likely, will be added to my hospital chart tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest. I’ve looked at all the other results before the doctors and see no difference in changing my procedure for these. I’d rather be prepared going in as opposed to being taken by surprise of something previously unknown. I do go back to the ‘radiation oncologist’ next week so hopefully we can get this treatment underway. I’m tired of waiting and playing out every scenario available in my mind. Until then, have a wonderful week and continue to watch for new blogs hot off the keyboard.
