“I just don’t like the circus.”

July 8, 2023|SFBayArea

The following piece was compiled by my longtime friend Diane Blake, as she spent the afternoon attending The Universoul Circus in the San Franciso Bay Area. I have never been to a circus and thought she’d like to have a little fun with it by showing me what I’ve been missing. Afterall, I have been in a change altering mode as of late and it had been an exciting and fun experience hearing of her adventure. Hope you enjoy!

My family business is a board and care for developmentally delayed. Thanks to my cousin’s leadership, we have three homes and thirteen residents. I work part time helping out with the paperwork and assisting in overseeing the activities the residents attend, among other things.  Previously, we’ve attended several Broadway plays.

I had been looking for more outings for the residents, when I came across a Facebook post advertising the ‘Universoul Circus.’

Let me say this, even though I grew up going to see The Greatest Show on Earth, I truly hated the circus and had never returned in my adult years! Needless to say, I was hoping this outing fell on an off day. No such luck, as it was reserved for a day I was to work.

I had heard about the ‘Universoul Circus’ for years, but again had no desire to attend. But this time…

I Liked it! I Loved it! It was funny and engaging! They kept it moving and the kids were over the moon! It was multicultural excellence!

It was an extremely well-orchestrated event. And thank you PETA for no longer allowing ninety-nine percent of the animal acts any longer, as that had been the worst part for me.

It was exciting and non-stop, if you get the opportunity to see them, please do!

Thank you for your sharing. I am worried that I lack creative ideas. It is your article that makes me full of hope. Thank you. But, I have a question, can you help me?
