I had to learn to live differently\u2014not just in normal ways, with less movement and fewer places to go, but in quieter ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started paying attention to moments I would\u2019ve missed before. Conversations felt more intentional. She was part of that chapter and much more. She was kind of connection that doesn\u2019t feel random, even if the timing of it was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We met in a world that had slowed down enough for two people to actually see each other. And for a while, we did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was something honest about it. No distractions. No noise. Just two people meeting in a moment where connection meant more than convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>When the World Opened, <\/strong>She Left<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But as the world found its rhythm again, we lost ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defining moment was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rickollie.com\/es\/2026\/03\/16\/rickollie-com-love-during-illness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3:16<\/a><\/strong> itself. A clear ending that began with an \u201c<strong>I love you<\/strong>.\u201d That\u2019s where it changed. Just distance. Silence. The kind of ending that leaves more questions than answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>National Reconciliation Day and Letting Go<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaldaytoday.us\/national-reconciliation-day-april-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Reconciliation Day<\/a><\/strong>. And I\u2019ve been thinking not about going backward, but about understanding what that time really meant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">COVID-19 changed relationships in a lot of ways, but one of the biggest for me was this: some connections don\u2019t need to last forever to matter for the rest of your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was one of those.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>What COVID-19 Taught Me About Connection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not everything is meant to be held onto. But some things are meant to be remembered differently over time with less confusion, less weight and maybe a little more clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don\u2019t know if every story is meant to have a second chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I do know this &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people don\u2019t leave your life completely.<br>They just become quieter parts of who you are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe reconciliation doesn\u2019t always mean reconnecting.
